Microsoft have announced yet another E3 2021 press conference, the Xbox Games Showcase: Extended.
The Xbox Wire blog-post begins by summarizing their major announcements from the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase. These included the release dates of Starfield, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl, Halo Infinite, and Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes; along with the surprise announcement of Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising.
Announcements included free Pirates of the Caribbean based content for Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon 5, The Outer Worlds 2, and open world co-op shooter Redfall. Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Back 4 Blood were also confirmed to be coming to the Xbox Game Pass.
The Xbox Wire post also confirmed another conference. The Xbox Games Showcase: Extended will feature games from Double Fine, Obsidian, Ninja Theory, Rare, and “our talented dev partners from around the world.” The presentation will be hosted by Parris Lilly (Kinda Funny Xcast, Gamertag Radio).
It was not confirmed whether we would get any other announcements, but a separate show would suggest that Microsoft would consider these announcements not as important as the main show. On the other hand, it could be the ESA dictated Microsoft had to split their conference in two to allow for other presentations, or to keep the conferences a reasonable length.
Whether its pure gameplay or a few surprise announcements, it seems Microsoft want to have the last word at E3 2021. What did you think of their announcements thus far? What are you hoping we’ll see at the extended showcase? Sound off in the comments below!
The Xbox Games Showcase: Extended premieres June 17th at 10:00 a.m. (PT) via Facebook, Twitch, Twitter, and YouTube.
