Xbox Game Pass to Include Microsoft Studio Titles on Release Date

Microsoft has announced their Xbox Game Pass monthly subscription program will expand to include Microsoft Studios-developed titles on their individual release dates.

If you subscribe to the Xbox Game Pass you get instant access to over 100 Xbox One titles (listed here) for $9.99 a month.

The first new title from Microsoft Studios to be added to the roster is Sea of Thieves, which is launching on March 20th. Following this titles like State of Decay 2, Crackdown 3, and future Microsoft Studios titles, including “new iterations of our biggest Xbox One-exclusive franchises such as HaloForza, and Gears of War.”

Microsoft also confirmed they’re working with retailers to offer a six-month Xbox Game Pass subscription card for $59.99 alongside the release of Sea of Thieves.

Companies really want this netflix based subscription model to become a thing.

I really don’t like the Netflix buffet streaming model and really hope it never gains a foothold in video games.

Complete control of their content and copyrights so they can yoink stuff you’re enjoying or is on your backlog to play list at any time. Also you’re likely to probably forget about your subscription and keep paying when you’re too busy to play which is the model behind MMOs, gyms, and pretty much any other subscription thing. Subscriptions suck.

So this is the MS version of PS Now and it’s just as terrible.

Well thanks to the sale the other month I got to play Gears of War 4 and ReCore for 1 dollar so I’m not against this. I mean it’s completely optional and you can still get the games the usual way.

It isn’t cloud-based like PS Now.

    All 3 of them lol.

You know the reason why they’re doing this? Because their games are F2P with lootboxes, microtransactions and other GaaS stuff.

They will earn back this investment with your creditcard. To quote a drugsdealer:

    The first one is free.

These games look about as appealing as sticking your head in a vat of acid.
