Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family Plan detailed with pricing

Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft has finally detailed the family plan for Xbox Game Pass, which information of it was leaked last week. The previously confirmed service will be first tested in the regions of Ireland and Colombia.

Pricing was shown for those regions to be €21.99 per month and 49,900 (Colombian peso) COP respectively. Given these values, this means that the eventually US release will see the price be about $25 a month. This would be $10 higher than the Game Pass Ultimate plan available now.

This new friends and family plan would mean that members on the same plan will receive all the benefits of the ultimate plan such as cloud streaming and the large selection of game, some of which are newly launched titles available on day 1.

Those who change their current subscription tier to take advantage of this new tier will have their time remaining converted:

  • 30 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is 18 days of Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family
  • 30 days of Xbox Game Pass (Console) is 12 days of Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family
  • 30 days of PC Game Pass is 12 days of Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family
  • 30 days of Xbox Live Gold is 12 days of Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family
  • 30 days of EA Play is 6 days of Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family

Microsoft explained details on the plan such as the fact that up to 5 accounts can be shared on a single family/friend plan. There are limitations such as how user can only be a part of 1 group at a time or that members can only join a group up to two times per year.

From a value standpoint at this current time, it seems to be a great deal if a group of 5 people were to join together. This would split the costs down to just $5 per person a month, which is only a third of what getting the ultimate plan individually would cost.

Recently, Microsoft has continued to add more notable games to the service. Most recently they announced Activision-Blizzard titles would be coming, which also includes future titles on day 1.
