Xbox Game Pass rolls out family plan allowing 5 people on the same subscription

Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft announced they’re rolling out an Xbox Game Pass update that adds the previously rumored family plan, letting subscribers add sub-users to their plan.

The new Xbox Game Pass family plan is rolling out exclusively to Colombia and Ireland as a focus test, letting subscribers add up to four additional members to their plan. The new functionality will give the four sub-users “their own unique access to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate games, content, and benefits.”

It remains unclear if the new “family plan” will cost more as it gives more users access to a host of features and content – but Microsoft noted a single month of Game Pass Ultimate is worth 18 days of this new membership plan.

Game Pass Ultimate is priced at $15 a month, so after some rough math, this means the new family plan will purportedly be in the ballpark of $30 a month to get up to five people access to the entire Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan.

As with any of these big changes and tests, Microsoft noted that things could change “based on Xbox Insider feedback.” Regardless, this is insane value that will likely be rolled out to the rest of the world as Microsoft continually tries to get the Xbox brand to catch up to Nintendo and Sony in terms of hardware sales and/or subscriber count.
