A few years after Microsoft removed the functionality, Xbox dashboard Twitch streaming is available again, the company announced this week.
Microsoft removed Twitch streaming functionality from Xbox consoles back in 2017 to push their now-defunct streaming alternative, Mixer, which they closed down a few years later in 2020.
The news that Xbox dashboard Twitch streaming is available again was touted by Microsoft as easier than ever, with the streaming now built into the Xbox’s main dashboard and interface.
Users have to just hit the Xbox home button and switch to the “Capture and Share” tab, then “Live Streaming,” and with one more button they can go live on Twitch natively through the Xbox dashboard. Previously, users could have streamed through Twitch through its official app but Microsoft notes this is now the best way to stream on Xbox.
When streaming users can also edit the title of their stream, manage the name of the game(s) they’re streaming, toggle mic audio levels, manually set resolution and bitrate, and of course – toggle party chat on or off.
