Xbox Commissions Documentary on Atari ET Landfill

One of the most known pieces of videogame lore is how Atari bought up all unsold copies of the infamous game ET and buried them in a New Mexico landfill.  Is the story fact or fiction?  Nobody really knows, but soon we will know for sure.

The reason for this is that Xbox Entertainment Studios is commissioning a project which will air as a documentary series on Xbox devices.  The Alamogordo News reports that the New Mexico Environmental Department has given the documentary crew the go ahead to launch the excavation of the landfill.  The project was originally delayed due to an unfinished waste excavation but that is all done now so the crew can get rolling.

No word on the exact release date of this documentary, but it should be expected sometime later this year and will be produced by Fuel Entertainment and Lightbox Interactive.
