It hasn’t been long since legendary creator Akira Toriyama sadly passed away, and since the entire world has been honoring his legacy. Xbox has joined in on commemorating the legend, with a new Blue Dragon dynamic background.

The new Blue Dragon dynamic background was released today in honor of Toriyama, who designed the main characters in the game and more alongside Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and his company Mistwalker.

“Honoring a true legend,” Microsoft said in a post. “We’ve added a new dynamic dashboard background featuring Xbox 360’s Blue Dragon, with art and character designs by Akira Toriyama.”

Blue Dragon was originally released for the Xbox 360 as an exclusive to the console, and was the first game on the platform to use three discs. It was considered a success and went on to spawn an entire franchise with sequels (Blue Dragon Plus, Blue Dragon: Awakened Shadow) and a TV anime of the same name.

The game takes place in a totally original world created by Sakaguchi with art by Toriyama, and music by Nobuo Uematsu. Blue Dragon stars protagonist Shu and his shadow, the blue dragon. Both Shu and his dragon are shown prominently in the new dynamic theme.

Newcomer fans that want to get their hands on Blue Dragon might be sad to learn it’s only ever been on Xbox but it’s fully backwards compatible on recent modern Xbox consoles, via the Xbox store.
