XBlaze Lost: Memories is Arc System Works’ upcoming sequel to XBlaze Code: Embryo (for which we have a review—find out what we thought of it).
Es and Touya Kagari will be returning, to be joined by new characters Watashi, Imouto, Kiri, Nobody, and Brain Cat. Lost: Memories will also retread some events from Code: Embryo, but from a different perspective.
Set in the BlazBlue universe, the game will have players control Watashi from a 16-bit, top-down perspective, with the goal of collecting crystals while confronting monsters and traps. As crystals are gathered, the memories of characters will be revealed in scenes, and activating the Brain Cat icon will give players information. When players collect enough Pieces of Memories, a chibified Nobody will present a riddle to the player, and if players solve the riddle correctly, they will be rewarded with raw Memory Ore.
You can see some character concepts (the first two images) and screenshots (the rest) from the game below.
The game is already available for pre-order through select avenues. Depending on where buyers go, they’ll also get one of the depicted pre-order bonuses, as follows (in order):
- Amazon: PC wallpaper
- Imagine: Large fabric poster
- Ebiten: A2 tapestry
- Stellaworth: Bromide
- Fammys: Phone card
- WonderGoo: B2 tapestry
XBlaze Lost: Memories will launch on April 9 in Japan, on the Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita. No announcement has been made of an English localization yet. However, the previous game did get an English translation, so it’s certainly a possibility.
