WWI Shooter Verdun Brings in the Aussies

Verdun, the brutal and authentic WWI multiplayer shooter by M2H and Blackmill Games, has just received a rather substantial new update that adds a new playable faction and some drastic audio changes.

The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps has been added as a playable squad. The ANZACs come with their distinctive uniforms, new cosmetic options, and a variety of historically accurate gear, including Lewis Guns, Webley revolvers, and multiple variants of the venerable SMLE. You can find a short trailer above.

That’s far from the only new addition, however. The Verdun team has been completely rebuilding the game’s audio over the past year to both make the game more immersive, and give players better audio cues.

Footsteps sound different based on the terrain that a player is running on, and vegetation now rustles as characters move through it. Ambient noises have been added that change based on the weather and time of day, and gunfire has been reworked so that players can better gauge how close its coming from. You can find the full patch notes here.

Verdun is available on Windows PC (via Steam), PS4, and Xbox One for $24.99.
