Sony has announced total worldwide shipments for PlayStation 4 have topped 79 million units.

The news was confirmed in the company’s latest financial results for the previous fiscal year, which ended on March 31st of this year. A total of 2.5 million PlayStation 4 consoles were shipped in the fourth quarter, a figure down 0.4 million in the same time frame as the previous fiscal year.

In total, 19 million PlayStation 4 consoles were shipped, a figure down one million from the previous fiscal year.

Sony is looking to ship 16 million PlayStation 4 consoles in the current fiscal year, which runs until March 31st of 2019 – bringing their global total up to 95 million units.
