World War Z heads to Xbox Series X and PS5 alongside Horde Mode XL update

World War Z

Publisher and developer Saber Interactive announced World War Z is coming to current-gen consoles alongside its big new game mode.

World War Z is coming to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on January 24th to coincide with the big “Horde Mode XL” update. The new Horde Mode throws in 1000-zombie waves, ramping up difficulty.

Owners of the game on Xbox One or PS4 can upgrade to the new versions for free, though the new Horde Mode is exclusive to the PC and current-gen versions.

The new update also brings with it new weapons and a highly anticipated revamped and improved weapon progression system. It’s worth noting the “Aftermath” version of the game is essentially its new main release, as it includes the Game of the Year Edition content.

Aside from the big bad horde mode, the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 versions will run at 60 frames per second and up to 4K resolution. Here’s a look:

World War Z has been available Windows PC (via Steam, the Microsoft Store, and the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
