World of Warcraft ‘bot killer’ quits after receiving death threats

World of Warcraft YouTuber announced he would cease all activities related to “bot killing” after receiving graphic death threats from Taiwanese and Russian gold sellers.

YouTuber Madskillzzhc has become popular over the past year for his YouTube series where he methodically kills bots in World of Warcraft Hardcore servers. In this instance, killing a bot is more than just an inconvenience as gold sellers who have their bots killed are unable to access those items or even gold anymore, possibly setting back days of work for the gold sellers each time.

In his video, Madskillzzhc announced his decision to step back from all activities related to bot killing and plans to delete his video sometime in the coming days (at the time of writing, they’re still up). You can check out his video below.

Blizzard has been attempting to fight bots and gold sellers with massive banwaves, and the release of the “WoW Token”. The token is a way for players to exchange real life money for in-game gold based on player supply and demand as the token can be exchanged for a month of game time. However Classic and Hardcore servers with their much smaller scale of the economy have become prime targets for gold sellers.

World of Warcraft is available on Microsoft Windows (through Battle.net). The newest expansion The War Within is out now!
