With the release of The Witcher 3 not due for another seven long and tortuous months, it’s rather shocking to see the Collector’s edition for the game already being in short supply. That seems to be the case though, with Bandai Namco already claiming that far greater than expected pre-orders of the package are close to exceeding the number of CE copies that will be made available. I found this interesting since at the Witcher 2 launch at my local Gamestop I was one of only seven people there and the only one who had a collector’s edition.
Marketing & PR Director Lee Kirton had the following to say about this:
We always expected a good response for such an amazing game but the fact that the Collector’s Edition is in such high demand shows the accreditation that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt deserves. E3 was yet another great example of how CD PROJEKT RED hold nothing back when it comes to quality. We want fans and newcomers to get as much out of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt as possible and be part of the history that this title has already made, and that this small souvenir represents, for the future of our industry. It’s important that fans looking forward to this epic release take advantage of the incredible collector’s edition on PC, PS4 and Xbox One and the outstanding additional content that will feature in the standard edition of the game too which includes, the soundtrack, the game, game map, stickers and Witcher universe compendium with no additional cost .
As you can see with the picture that accompanies this article, the CE looks mighty beefy and should make the dust mites on all of our shelves cackle with delight at the new textures and platforms they get to infest. As gorgeous as that statue is though, I’m not sure I would have a place to put it.
The CE package includes:
- All the contents from the standard edition of the game
- A giant, 33x24x26 cm (10”), 100% hand painted, Polystone figure of Geralt of Rivia battling a Griffin
- An exquisite, collector-grade Witcher medallion
- A one-of-a-kind SteelBook™ box
- A two-hundred-page artbook, containing breathtaking art from the game
- Huge outer and inner Collector’s Boxes you can store your Witcher merchandise in!
Though this applies to the UK, where I’m sure the game is even more rabidly followed, it wouldn’t surprise me to see this be said about the American territories soon. Now would be a good time to grab it while there are still spots left on the list.
