Western Release for Kenka Bancho Otome Can Happen, If Fans Demand It

kenka bancho otome 03-17-16-1

Spike Chunsoft has been handling various western releases, alongside interacting with their fans, via a new English Twitter and Facebook accounts.

The developer has even self-published the Danganronpa games onto PC, via Steam. A recent post of ours for Kenka Bancho Otome saw the developer share it on social media via their English account, so we inquired if a western release is possible.

The company responded with:

“You know what they say, ‘If there’s enough interest, we’ll consider it!'”

While is is a far cry from a confirmation, it at least shows the developer is listening to their fans and might consider it, if you guys demand it enough. Make sure to head on over to their Twitter and Facebook to voice your demand!

Kenka Bancho Otome is launching for PS Vita on May 19th in Japan.

Is this “If there’s ‘enough’ demand, we’ll consider it” a new meme?

Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble is also a fantastic brawler in the vein of God Hand and Yakuza 1 on PSP. Its a hidden gem for sure.

That’s very high praise. I actually played the whole of Kenka Bancho 6’s story and am sort of lukewarm about it though it does seem to designed differently.

Seems to be. It is both an easy way out of addressing any precise perceived issues with the market or interest and getting people to hype up a release even if they plan to do it.

I do like believing though. E.X. Troopers hasn’t been localised almost four years after a similar claim from a Capcom producer who doesn’t work there currently but I like believing.

High praise dude. I was sort of lukewarm with the only Kenka Bancho game I played, KB6: Soul and Blood.

It does seem to have a different direction though.

I really need to finish it but like Yakuza it has a lot of side stuff needed to 100%. Those are pretty daunting to me. It also encourages you to repeat the “main” game to find all the banchos sort of like Way of the Samurai.

That pink haired character looks like a boy and I got excited until I saw the Otome in the title :P

To be fair Spike Chunsoft are only just starting on there quest to reach out to the west on there own. That said they seem to be a company that is keen to get as many of there games release in the west as possible.

Doubt they’ll be much demand for this though.

Eh, I would rather have the mainline Kenka Bancho games, like Soul and Blood. Or those 2 samurai games Spike Chunsoft released a while ago.

But this is okay too, I guess. Not my style, but I’m sure it has it’s audience. And the world is always a better place the more localizations it gets.

I would have made a bit of noise if it had been a yaoi dating sim, but I have no real interest in an otome game.

Why not a Kenka Bancho game instead.

Well, if its any better for reasons weirdly unknown, Gal-Gun Double Piece, at least, got a localization notice, so yeah, otome fans would get their interests piqued.

Also, since its mentioned that its from SC, it sounds like something Aksys would bring out (if they decide to pick it up), considering they brought out Hakuouki, Code-Realize, and Norn9, so yeah, lol. X3 (That, or possibly self-publish, as they are already with Danganronpa and possibly the Zero Escape series onto steam someday.)

If I had to go on a limb, I’d say a VN like this would be easier/cheaper to start out with, and would cater to a more proven market already – especially when taking into account the obvious PC port.

If the VN proves itself worthwhile enough, and new fans display an interest in the older entries in the series, then that’s a sign to Spikechun (or whomever else might want to publish for them) that there is in fact a market for the mainline games over here.

I’d rather KB6. Only Otome games I care about are the ones where the dates are actually crossdressing women.

For some reason it seems like every otome game has a chance of getting localized. I mean it’s great for the people that like them, but I feel like every time a VN localization gets announced for Vita it’s a damn otome game.

Hmm I wonder what SJWs make of this they can’t bitch it foces on boys & not a girl in sight & said crowd are for enough gay & trans gender in games right.

So let see if they stay silent.

That’s retarded. Case in point, Kenka Bancho is about punching dudes and not about dating dudes. If they wanted to renew interest they’d just put up a regular Kenka Bancho game up for grabs. Pretty sure they know the audiences are a little different.

I’m thinking they just want to release more Otome games. We already had a Kenka Bancho game released over here, they could’ve gone about this a lot differently if they wanted to do the main series.

Idk why no one finds it interesting. It’s cool to see a game where the heroine is pretending to be a boy. I love reading manga like this. As long as she’s not the type to be pushed around and has some guts, I’m all for it.

Since the first game had multiple years, with me being mostly unable to beat up the senpai when I was a first year. I get what you mean. Maybe I should give the second playthrough a try to beat up all of the extras.

Pretending to be a boy in a media isn’t that notable, I saw Mulan ages ago. >_>

I think they have some potential with this one, so I hope they don’t waste it even if I’d like a Kenka Bancho 7 which improves things.
