Nacon and developer Cyanide Studio have released the first gameplay for action adventure game Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood.
As previously reported, this stealth-action game is based on the World of Darkness RPG universe. You play as Cahal, a Garou that has exiled himself after losing control of his destructive powers. Now, Cahal wages a war against Endron, a massive oil company that is defiling Gaia.
The first gameplay trailer features developer commentary over a few missions. Therein we see Cahal leveling up via Spirit Points, and his three forms. The human for interacting with the environment, the wolf for stealth, and crinos, for combat.
The crinos also has two further stances, one for movement over the environment and quick strikes, the other Rage form (built up via a meter for defeating foes in any form) for slower but more devastating damage and special moves.
Players can also fill the Frenzy bar, combing speed and power of both forms; but sacrificing special attacks and the control over some combos.
While you regenerate health, some enemies will use silver bullets. These hits will effectively lower your total health for the duration of the fight. Some enemies are also possessed by evil spirits, granting them new powers.
The wolf form’s small size also lets the player sneak through air vents, though stealth take-downs are performed in human form, or via a crossbow (which can also disable cameras and machines). Both have penumbra vision, letting you see enemies that are partially obscured more clearly.
You can find a rundown of the game (via the Epic Games Store) below:
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood
A unique experience full of savage combat and mystical adventures, inspired by the famous role-playing game.
You are Cahal, a powerful Garou who chose to go into exile after losing control of his destructive rage. You can transform into a wolf and a Crinos, a huge ferocious beast. You must master the three forms and powers of human, wolf and Crinos to punish those who defile Gaia, Mother Earth. But your worst enemy is yourself: if you don’t contain your rage, it can destroy you once again…
Each form has its advantages: the wolf can sneak around undetected, Cahal as a human can interact with other people, and the Werewolf can unleash its rage to tear enemies apart. This rage is your greatest asset but also your weakness…
On his quest for redemption and blood, Cahal plays a crucial role in the great war between the Garou and Endron, a powerful oil company that serves the Wyrm, a destructive spirit ravaging the planet.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood launches February 4th, 2021 for Windows PC (via the Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
