We Were Soldiers 4K remaster announced with fall 2024 release

We Were Soldiers 4K

Paramount Home Media Distribution has announced a new 4K Blu-ray for Randall Wallace’s 2002 war epic We Were Soldiers, starring Mel Gibson, Madeline Stowe, Greg Kinnear, Sam Elliott, and Chris Klein.

The very first We Were Soldiers 4K remaster will be available this fall on November 5th at various retailers. Preorders are already live on Amazon and others.

Based on the book “We Were Soldiers Once… and Young” by Hal Moore, the 2002 film stars Mel Gibson as Moore as it depicts the events leading up to his regiment entering the first major battle of the Vietnam War, the Battle of Ia Drang.

We Were Soldiers is another film by Gibson’s own Icon Productions, and co-made with Wheelhouse Entertainment. Wallace directed, wrote, and co-produced the film with Bruce Davey and Stephen McEveety.

Here’s an official synopsis on the film, plus the new box art:

Mel Gibson and Randall Wallace, the star and writer of Braveheart, reunite for this action-packed war movie that features explosive battle sequences, thrilling aerial photography and unforgettable military heroes who fought for their country, their loved ones and their freedom. The year is 1965 and America is at War with North Vietnam. Commanding the air cavalry is Lt. Col. Hal Moore (Gibson), a born leader committed to his troops. His target: the La Drang Valley, called “The Valley of Death.” As Moore prepares for one of the most violent battles in U.S. history, he delivers a stirring promise to his soldiers and their families: “I will leave no man behind…dead or alive. We will all come home together.” This heroic true story of commitment, courage and sacrifice also stars Madeline Stowe, Greg Kinnear, Sam Elliott, Chris Klein, Keri Russell and Barry Pepper.
