Watch the First 20 Minutes of Life is Strange

Ahead of its January 30 release, the first 20-something minutes of Life is Strange gameplay have made their way online. Those of you not worried about spoilers for the narrative-heavy game can watch the video above. The rest of you just need to wait another two days for Episode 1, when it releases on the PC, Playstation 4 and 3, and Xbox One and 360.

For more details on the episodic point-and-click adventure video game, you can read our summary of the Reddit AMA that developers Dontnod Entertainment did.

If you watched the above video: what do you think of the game from this peek?

I don’t know, something just doesn’t feel right with the dialogues.nMaybe it’s the writing, maybe it’s the voice acting, maybe it’s the fact that all these characters look like massive stereotypes.nI dunno, it just feels amateurish.

This sort of game isn’t my cup of tea but this one doesn’t look like it would be an exception. The writing is rather off – even at the very opening she says/thinks way more than she needs to instead of letting the visuals show she’s confused and aiming for the lighthouse. What’s shown of the mystery looks interesting enough but I don’t think the writing would handle it well enough for me to enjoy it.

Ugh. I do not like the way Max’s lines are being delivered, sounds so wooden. And the Kate girl she talks to looks/sounds like she’s going to keel over at any moment.

I’ve been hearing so much about this game over the past few weeks and I still have no idea why so many people are going on and on about it. Is it just because there are two female main characters? Or is this supposed to be some kind of super adventure game or something?

i dont like the narration, its hand holding, i can find those things out by experiencing the world, its like it wants to be a tv series or a movie rather than a game

The most irritating part of this video for me is that VICTORIA MISPRONOUNCES “DAGUERREOTYPE”.

Not exactly a title I would pick up, but hopefully this will bring in the specific demographic they’re trying to bring in to this. The only I see thus far that’s a game breaker is the hand holding story telling and the hit-or-miss dialogue.
