A randomly generated Watch Dogs: Legion NPC has generated outcry and amusement, as it is a pediatrician who had dated their patient.

Past games in the Watch Dog series had used the series hacking mechanics to explain how dangerous digitized information can be. This was done by showing the most private details of NPCs, randomly generated from random combinations.

These could result in some interesting combinations; such as a blood donor who is HIV positive. Several NPCs (such as those related to missions) would have fixed information and professions.

The game recently launched on Windows PC (via the Epic Games Store, and UPlay), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia. It will also launch Holiday 2020 for PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. The current gen launch saw one NPC catch a lot of attention.

Andy Borjas tweeted his discovery of an NPC with the occupation of Paediatrician (or Pediatrician by the US spelling). Their tid-bit of information was “Ended personal relationship with patient.”

As the character has medical based skills (the skill Triage can be seen on her profile) it is likely there is a pool of occupations, information, and skills that are all designed to appear alongside one another. In other words, you couldn’t have a builder who ended a relationship with a patient.

Nonetheless, the tweet has drawn outcry and bemusement from other users on Twitter. The matter is made worse by how any NPC can be recruited, leading other outlets to focus on how Ubisoft (by accident) had created a playable pedophile.

While Ubisoft have not commented at this time, it is all but certain this will be patched out in the near future.
