Wasteland 3 Plagued with Crashes on Console and other Bugs

Wasteland 3

UPDATE: We have included additional comments by inXile Entertainment.

Deep Silver and developer inXile Entertainment’s Wasteland 3 has been suffering issues on consoles, including numerous crashes.

In our review, we noted the game was riddled with constant crashes on Xbox One. After reaching out to Deep Silver, we integrated our Port-Report of the PC version of the game.

We continued to test the Xbox One version, but saw no marked improvements. While at launch only a fraction of users seemed to suffer the same issues, that number ramped up over time.

Now Polygon reports their issues with the game’s co-op. They encountered older events repeating when re-visiting older locations, broken saves, and mission logs clearing out. They did not report which platform they used.

inXile Entertainment have posted a list of known issues across all platforms. They note on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that they are “aware of some crashes and unresponsive actions on consoles. This is our highest priority and initial patches are in the final stages of testing now.”

The game’s official subreddit has also been discussing the crashes on Xbox One [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8]. Most seem to have been posted over the prior week, though it should be noted Reddit can sort posts by “Hot” and newest.

The subreddit’s community manager also stated “We’re working to try and get the hotfix which will hopefully address this once and for all, into your hands as soon as possible. In the meantime, thanks for hanging in there.”

Despite this, the game has user scores above 7 (out of 10) on Metacritic across all platforms [1, 2, 3].

Speaking to us, inXile Entertainment have confirmed that they are aware of the stability issues on Xbox One, and have “spent this week on high priority issues like co-op and console stability.”

“We’re working on getting them resolved, but as consoles require additional certification testing and development, are looking at early next week to release a more comprehensive stability patch for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. We’re going to be posting an update this evening on where we’re at with both PC and console issues and fixes. “

You can find a rundown of the game (via Steam) below:

You’re dispatched on a desperate quest from the scorching deserts to the snowy mountains to start from scratch, building a new base, finding a snow-worthy vehicle, training new recruits, and fighting your way through hostile frozen wastes. All the while, you’ll have to decide who to trust in this land torn apart by corruption, intrigue, warring factions, crazed cultists, cutthroat gangs, and bitter sibling rivalries. Build a reputation for yourself by making decisions that will profoundly impact Colorado, its inhabitants and the story you experience. Will you be Colorado’s savior or its worst nightmare?

Wasteland 3 is a squad-based RPG from inXile entertainment, featuring challenging tactical turn-based combat and a deep, reactive story full of twists, turns, and brutal ethical decisions that will keep you hooked whether you’re a Wasteland veteran or new to the series.
