Wasteland 2 GOTY Content Coming Free To All Owners

You may remember hearing that the upcoming console version of inXile’s Wasteland 2 would contain new content not available in the PC release, and this, understandably, left a lot of original owners and backers wondering if they were being left behind. Though inXile stated they had plans to give the new additions out as DLC, it wasn’t known who was going to get it or how. Would it be paid? Would you need to be a backer?

An update sent this morning to the game’s original backers states that everyone, regardless of when or how they legally purchased the game, will get all of the console’s new additions completely free.

You may have caught word of our plans to release Wasteland 2 Game of the Year Edition on PC platforms, as well as Xbox One and PlayStation 4 – and if you haven’t, you can check out some tidbits on the PlayStation blog, or watch the Xbox One or PS4 trailer. But while that’s all well and good, we’ve been asked by many of our backers and fans over the last months: what about those that made Wasteland 2 a reality in the first place, or previously purchased the game?
We’re very happy to announce that the Game of the Year Edition will be coming as a FREE UPDATE to all owners of Wasteland 2 on Windows, Mac or Linux. Whether an original backer, a late backer or someone who purchased the game later on, we will be providing Wasteland 2 Game of the Year Edition as an upgrade to your PC version of the game, available to you when it launches in late summer of this year!

The new content is fairly sizable too, with new character voice-overs, a new “Perk and Quirk” system, an update to Unity 5, new textures, and an across-the-board re-balance to every combat scenario in the game.

There was no exact release date given, but they state in the backer email that they will keep the community updated on their progress.
