Warner Bros. Games Montreal Teases New Batman Game

Warner Bros. Games Montreal has been teasing a new Batman game on social media, possibly a continuation of the Arkham series.

The first tease came on September 22nd, on the 80th anniversary of Batman. Warner Bros. Games Montreal’s Twitter account posted a video of the bat-signal projected onto the side of a building- with the footage interrupted with strange symbols.

Scott Snyder (who became the writer of Batman comics during the “New 52” era) later retweeted the tweet with his own caption. “Wait for it… #bewarethecourtofowls.” This tweet was later deleted, but a screenshot was saved.

The Court of Owls is an elite secret society that has controlled Gotham for generations, specializing in enforcing their rule through assassins called Talons. The group was briefly mentioned in Batman: Arkham Origins as an Easter Egg.

On September 23rd, Warner Bros. Games Montreal’s Twitter account posted another video. This time it showed the symbols more clearly along with the message “Capture the Knight / Cape sur la nuit.” The first symbol has a vague owl’s head in its center.

Another thing of note is the last symbol, showing a monstrous head. Ra’s al Ghul (another Batman villain) has been called “The Demon’s Head” and variations thereof in the past. The character had previously appeared in Batman: Arkham City. The symbol also has vague far-east and middle-eastern motifs in its design- both of which have been used as inspiration in the designs of al Ghul’s League of Assassins.
