Warner Bros. has established a new games publishing label completely focused on the Harry Potter franchise, called simply Portkey Games.
The new publisher’s first game is Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, a mobile augmented reality title from Pokemon GO developers Niantic.
Details are scant, however Warner Bros. teases that players will be “transported into the wizarding world and placed at the center of their own adventure.” You’ll also reportedly be able to “visit new locations and explore new story elements, again, all inspired by the wizarding world.”
Both new and familiar characters from the series “at different points in their lives” will make an appearance in the game.
Here’s a brief rundown on the game, via Warner Bros.:
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will reveal that magic is all around us, and allow players to be a part of Harry Potter‘s rich world, through Niantic’s AR + real-world mobile game platform and the franchise expertise of WB Games San Francisco’s development and publishing team. By exploring real-world neighborhoods and cities across the globe, players will go on adventures, learn and cast spells, discover mysterious artifacts, and encounter legendary beasts and iconic characters.
Further details for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will be revealed sometime next year.
