War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius shutting down in Japan

War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius

Publisher Square Enix has announced they’re shutting down War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius in Japan.

The long-running smartphone spinoff RPG is shutting down in Japan this spring on May 28th. The game shut down its global version back in March 2025.

A follow-up post from producer Watanabe noted the team looked at trying to make an offline version for the game, but it was too difficult to reproduce the game’s experience, which relies on online elements.

Here’s the full message from the team on the game’s shutdown:

Thank you very much for your continued support of “WAR OF THE VISIONS: FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS: Phantom War” (hereinafter “FFBE Phantom War”).

We regret to inform you that “FFBE Phantom War” will be terminating service as of 2:00 AM on Thursday, May 28, 2026.

The entire operations team sincerely apologizes to our loyal customers for this sudden announcement.

Since the service launched on Thursday, April 4, 209, we have strived daily to provide the best possible experience. However, we have concluded that it will be difficult to continue offering a service that meets our customers’ expectations, and have therefore decided to terminate the service.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all our loyal customers and sincerely apologize for this announcement.
