Kumiho Soft have announced that the Kickstarter campaign for War of Ashird has been cancelled, but will re-launch in the future.
Despite introducing more physical rewards at the end of April, a Kickstarter update today has announced the Kickstarter has been cancelled. The reason was not elaborated upon, other than “mistakes” being made early in the project, which would be difficult to fix while the crowdfunding progressed.
However, the Kickstarter will relaunch at a later date. In addition several “partners” have approached the development team. “They liked what they saw,” the Kickstarter update explains. “A lot.”
You can find the statement below.
“Today’s update was not an easy one to write—because after we post it, we’re canceling our campaign.
‘But why,’ you may ask? The truth is, we made some mistakes when we started, and fixing them while the campaign is ongoing can be quite difficult. We value honesty above all else, so we aren’t afraid to admit this—and we trust you’ll understand.
Even though our campaign may still succeed despite these issues, there’s a good chance we will fall short of 100% funding. Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing platform, so we wouldn’t see any of that money nonetheless. After discussing our options with our partners (more on this later), we thought it was best to cancel our campaign, make the necessary adjustments, and launch it in a new, improved form!
We know some of you will be disappointed with this decision, but we promised from the beginning we would honor your trust and faith in us. We want to do everything we can to make the War of Ashird you deserve!
Thankfully, we have some help, because several partners have approached us! We can’t reveal them yet due to our non-disclosure agreements, but we can tell you this:
They noticed War of Ashird—and they liked what they saw. A lot. They saw our team’s talent and passion, and saw our dedication to you, our loyal backers—who believed in us from our humble beginnings. We wouldn’t have gotten this far without your support, so we’d like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
However, even though the campaign is over… War of Ashird will return to Kickstarter soon!
Stay tuned and follow us on social media for updates; when we re-launch, we’re going to make War of Ashird the best RPG it can be!”
The post concluded with a new image of the corporate mascot for Kumiho Soft, and highlighting fellow Kickstarter campaign Sword of the Necromancer.
As of this time of writing, the War of Ashird Kickstarter had raised $52,179 USD out of its $82,000 USD goal, with 15 days remaining before its cancellation.
Until otherwise stated, War of Ashird launches 2021 on Windows PC (via Steam), and 2022 on Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
