Welcome back to Waifu Wednesday, Niche Gamer’s column where we talk about characters, their appeal, and a little on their history.

Christmas might be over but to celebrate the holiday today’s Waifu Wednesday is possibly the first “waifu” figure in American cinema, the leg lamp from A Christmas Story.

The lamp is modeled after a woman’s leg and is a prize won by Mr. Parker in the classic 1983 film. When the lamp arrives, Mr. Parker’s 3DPD wife is offput by the lamp while Mr. Parker proclaims it to be a trophy of his success.

We’re uncertain if the lamp is modeled on any particular woman’s leg, but that does nothing to diminish its significance to Mr. Parker.

While this isn’t a conventional waifu, we’re hoping you can appreciate the parallels between Mr. Parker’s devotion to his lamp, and the same devotion weebs have for their waifus. We hope you had a merry Christmas.
