Welcome back to Waifu Wednesday, Niche Gamer’s column where we talk about characters, their appeal, and a little on their history.

This week’s waifu is Rosalina from the Super Mario Bros. series.

Rosalina made her first appearance in Super Mario Galaxy back in 2007 and was recently featured in the Super Mario Galaxy movie earlier this month.

Rosalina quickly became a fan favorite princess, due partly to Peach being the default princess for so long, and partly due to Daisy not getting nearly the attention she deserves.

In 2008, Rosalina cemented a reputation as being the sexiest of the three princesses due to her appearance in Mario Kart Wii. Rosalina has the distinction of being the first female heavyweight character. This led to a lot of memes and fanart that emphasized Rosalina as “heavy” in certain places.

Since then, Rosalina has become a cornerstone of the Super Mario cast and has joined classic characters in spin-off games like Mario Party ever since.
