Waifu Wednesday: Agrias Oaks

Final Fantasy Tactics Agrias Oaks

Welcome back to Waifu Wednesday, Niche Gamer’s column where we talk about characters, their appeal, and a little on their history.

Agrias Oaks is one of the key party members in the 1997 PlayStation title Final Fantasy Tactics. She joins the party in Act 2 when Ramza joins Princess Ovelia’s escort.

An archetypal “knight” character, Agrias is stalwart, honest, and proud; in game she holds the Holy Knight class and is the only playable character with that class. Although she doesn’t have as much dialogue as Ramza, Delita, or even Princess Ovelia, she’s still the de facto female lead in The War of the Lions thanks to her key role in Ramza’s party. As a result, many players of the game recognize and appreciate her.

Agrias was designed by Akihito Yoshida who worked with Square until 2013. However he’s since been credited in games for his freelance work and as Special Thanks, most recently in Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker. Meanwhile, Agrias herself has returned in other titles like Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy Record Keeper, and more.

If you don’t own a PlayStation or PSP, luckily Final Fantasy Tactics has since released on mobile devices.
