Voice actress and singer Shoko Nakagawa has been selected as an olympic torchbearer.
The announcement came via her Twitter, stating she would represent the Nakano ward of Tokyo in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay.
“Big news!! What! The 2020 Tokyo Olympics have chosen Shoko Nakagawa as the representative torch runner at Nakano Ward!!! It’s like a dream! Thank you, Nakano Ward, this is the best honor ever since I was born! The fact that I was drawing a picture book for Chibita’s Torch Runner has become a reality! It’s a miracle that is more amazing than the dream Chibita brought!!!”
For those who do not know who Chibita is, Shoko is talking about the picture book she recently published Chibita, the Olympic Torchbearer, named after her own cat.
Shoko’s previous works include voicing Athena in Saint Seiya Omega, Diana in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, and a guest star in numerous Pokemon films. She has also performed the opening and closing themes for Pokemon, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Occult Academy, Akiba’s Trip The Animation, and Gurren Lagan.
