Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown is Officially Announced

Sega has confirmed Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown is officially announced for PlayStation 4, and it launches June 1st worldwide.

The game was “remade for a new generation,” complete with updated visuals “rebuilt from scratch” using the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s Dragon Engine technology, with both RGG Studio and Sega AM2 leading development on the remake. There will be new background music for every stage, a new user interface, a new opening cinematic, and new lighting and shaders.

It’s worth noting the fundamental gameplay and combat will remain the same, but there’s also a new feature to let players spectate matches in real time, as well as the ability to build robin-robin style online tournaments. Both the private and public lobby system will support up to 16 players, and will also include new communications tools like stamps.

While Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown is officially announced, finally, the game was previously teased announcement to celebrate the company’s 60th anniversary, and leaked via a rating listing in Korea and with artwork leaked on the PlayStation Store,
