Verdun and Tannenberg Film Memoir Update Now Live

Verdun

M2H have released [1, 2] the Film Memoir update for the Steam versions of both Verdun and Tannenberg.

The update, which originated as an April Fool’s joke, adds a new black and white camera mode. This Film Memoir mode is designed to replicate cameras of the era, and also applies a grainy filter and alternate sound effects.

“Partly inspired by the amazing colorization work seen in Peter Jackson’s They Shall Not Grow Old,” the announcement explains, “we wanted to give players a taste of the reverse – turning color into black and white. It can really make you appreciate some of the challenges faced by photographers and filmmakers of the time as they searched for scenes that would translate well to black and white images.”

The mode will be available for all players until April 26th, and then only to those who have the Supporter Edition DLC after that. Both games are also 55% off until April 27th.

You can find the trailer for the update below.

The developers are also running a contest, inviting players to make short films and pictures with the new mode. Prizes include unspecified merch and the Supporter Edition.

As this is mentioned on both announcement pages for Verdun and Tannenberg, we believe this means the Supported Edition for either or both games [1, 2]. Across both games these include a Special Supporter Medal, a Scoreboard Star icon, the game’s soundtrack, Bonus Career Points, artwork, and the aforementioned Film Memoir mode.

Winners will be picked from three categories; Best short film, Best image, and Best story. You can find the contest details in the announcement posts here [1, 2].

Verdun is available on Windows PC, Linux, Mac (all via Steam), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Tannenberg is available on Windows PC, Linux, and Mac (all via Steam). If you missed it, you can find our review of Tannenberg here (we recommend it!)
