Valve expands Steam verified program to Steam Machine and Steam Frame

Steam Machine

Valve has announced that its upcoming Steam Machine and Steam Frame devices will receive their own Verified programs ahead of launch later this summer.

For players, the goal is simple: know immediately whether a game works well without spending time tweaking settings.

According to Valve, the Steam Machine significantly more performance than Steam Deck, meaning many games that previously carried a “Playable” rating could now qualify as fully Verified on the new hardware.

Meanwhile, the Steam Frame is Valve’s upcoming standalone VR headset that can also function as a portable Steam gaming device. It supports traditional games alongside VR experiences, either through local play or streaming from another Steam device.

To earn Steam Frame Verified status, games must deliver solid performance, readable interfaces, and proper controller support. VR titles will be held to particularly high standards, with smooth frame rates remaining a key requirement.

Valve has already begun testing thousands of games across both platforms and is providing developers with new tools and documentation to improve compatibility.

The expansion signals that Valve wants future Steam hardware to offer the same plug-and-play simplicity that helped make Steam Deck such a success.
