Valve Announces DOTA-Based Digital Card-Game, Artifact

Before monopolizing the digital game distribution market, Valve used to make video games regularly. Some of those games set benchmarks for their respective genres. Now, the developer has announced a DOTA-based, digital-card game titled simply Artifact.

The game reportedly uses three boards and a bunch of heroes from their popular Defense of the Ancients sequel, and sounds like it could involve construction of buildings, alongside your expected MOBA tropes like creeps and lanes – which makes sense because the comparisons to Blizzard’s Hearthstone are already being made.

That’s all we really have to go on for now. There’s also the above trailer, however it doesn’t show anything beyond the game’s logo. The game was announced last night during the publisher’s latest The International event.
