Coffee Stain Publishing and developer Iron Gate have released the final 2021 development blog confirming the Valheim mountain biome update is coming in early 2022.
While the much larger Mistlands biome is coming for awhile now, the Valheim mountain biome update is coming early 2022, providing a smaller but more immediate chunk of new content.
Iron Gate notes in the dev blog that the Mountain biome update is getting “more and more complete,” and that it is on track for a release sometime early next year.
The preview has the above screenshot and another to give you an idea of what the update entails, and it looks like it’s not just mountains and caves being added. One screenshot has a large stone room with tablets engraved with runes, while another looks like an underground temple of some kind.
“As the development of the caves is gradually progressing, that means more and more energy can be focused on the Mistlands update,” the developer said.
They added, “There’s a lot to be done in order to bring you a whole biome, as we need to establish everything from resources and new things to craft, to enemies and the big bad boss, but we’re really liking what we have so far!”
Valheim is available on Windows PC, and Linux (via Steam).
