Coffee Stain Publishing and developer Iron Gate announced Valheim gets frost caves in a new content update this week.
The new update adds the previously announced mountain biome and its frost cave dungeons, which bring new enemies, weapons, and armor to discover in your spelunking. You can find the full patch notes for the update here.
Iron Gate also implemented some quality of life changes in the new update for the base game, like the ability to pause the game in single player – as well as optimizations for Valve’s recently launched Steam Deck. This also includes refinements for overall controller support, in case you play on your PC and need a controller still.
Furthermore, to celebrate the game’s first anniversary, Iron Gate also released a drinking horn to the game, so you can celebrate the same way vikings did ages ago – Skål!
While Valheim gets frost caves in new update, the developer also teased a new critter that is coming to the game in the future Mistlands biome update – it seems like you won’t have to worry about it eating you.
Valheim is available on Windows PC, and Linux (via Steam).
