Coffee Stain Publishing and developer Iron Gate have announced a Switch 2 release for Valheim, their low-poly viking survival and crafting game.
Valheim is coming to Switch 2 sometime later this year alongside the previously announced PS5 port. The game has been available in early access for Windows PC (via Steam and the Microsoft Store) since 2021, and got an Xbox release later in 2023.
Here’s a rundown on the game, plus a new trailer:
Announced during the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase earlier today, Valheim’s teeth-clenching survival action will soon be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 devices, supporting full cross play between platforms, touch screen support for menus, advanced vibrations via the HD Rumble 2 and gyroscope aiming.
Valheim is a survival and exploration game for 1-10 players, set in a procedurally-generated purgatory inspired by Viking culture. Developed by Sweden-based indie studio Iron Gate and published by Coffee Stain Publishing, the team behind other hit titles such as Satisfactory and Deep Rock Galactic, the game challenges players to battle, build and carve out their legacy in the tenth realm. Since its meteoric Early Access debut in 2021, Valheim has earned widespread acclaim, boasting a 94% “Very Positive” rating on Steam with more than 524,000 positive reviews and over 12 million copies sold.
Since its Early Access release, Valheim has seen three major and multiple minor content updates expanding the tenth realm with new biomes, weapons, armor, building items and more. On release, the game will offer eight fully fleshed out biomes including the mystical planes of Mistlands, the harsh lavascapes of Ashlands and the enigmatic Deep North.
