Before the gritty, hyper realistic military shooters took over the world and became a yearly, iterated event, there were a number of extremely creative shooters that were perfectly content with being the opposite.
Unreal Tournament was one of those games, providing a blood drenched, seemingly parody level approach to realism. Mutators and totally outrageous guns galore, it was a fun time.
Now, Epic Games vice president and co-founder Mark Rein is teasing a comeback for the seriea on Twitter.
“You want to know about the future of #UnrealTournament?” Rein said in the first tweet. “Tune in to http://www.Twitch.tv/UnrealEngine Thursday at 2pm ET. #unrealdev #FirstBlood”
The teasing didn’t stop there either, as Epic’s Paul Meegan followed up with a similar tweet: “UE4 Dev Community + Epic. The future of Unreal Tournament.”
We’ll keep you guys posted.
