Under Defeat getting modern re-release on PC and consoles

Under Defeat

Japanese developer City Connection and G.rev have announced modern ports for Under Defeat on PC and consoles.

Under Defeat is coming to Xbox consoles, Switch, PS5, and Windows PC (via Steam) sometime next year. New features and content include:

  • New songs added! (Boosted) with a new BGM set composed by Shinji Hosoe himself!
  • Contribution and rank display function!
  • Communication / subtitle display function!
  • +More

Originally released for Japanese arcades back in 2005, Under Defeat takes place in an alternate reality version of World War II where players control German characters from “The Empire” who are fighting the English “Union.” The in-game vehicles are based on their real-life Axis and Allied counterparts.

A year later the game got ported to the Sega Dreamcast and was marketed as the last game released for the console was officially discontinued in 2001 (two more were released a year later, plus lots of unofficial releases since).

The shoot ’em up was remasterd in high-definition in 2012 as Under Defeat HD for both Xbox 360 and PS3, and came west under publisher Rising Star Games. It’s an updated version with better visuals, new control options, and a new gameplay mode to better suit 16:9 widescreen displays.
