Manga Gamer has announced they’re localizing 07th Expansion’s Higurashi When They Cry successor, Umineko When They Cry.

In the game, the protagonist joins Battler, a descendant of the wealthy Ushiromiya family, as they join the family for their annual reunion on island Rokkenjima. However, a disaster strikes the family, and they all have to fight for their lives. Lives are lost, and in the aftermath, you have to find out who attacked your family.

Umineko When They Cry takes place over eight episodes, similar to Higurashi‘s progression. The player will be exposed to multiple ways the murders could have happened – although none of them are certain.

Manga Gamer is working closely with studio Witch Hunt to update the translation of the game, on both their store and via Steam. As the new art for the episodes are still being worked on, Manga Gamer will be releasing the game in episodes, to make them accessible as soon as the new art is available (from 07th Expansion).
