M2 has shared the first key art and details for Ubusuna, the new shoot ’em up game from Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun creator Hiroshi Iuchi.
While the game was announced way back in 2014 for PS4, Iuchi confirmed development is continuing well, but there was a roadbump with development as they had to change main designers.
As they changed main designers on the game, their team naturally had to redo the modeling, art, and design to an extent. The game will support two players, each with their own custom tailored aircraft.
The first artwork for the player aircraft and more was shared, via 4Gamer:
The artwork and renders show off both the Player 1 craft (red) and the Player 2 craft (blue). Both craft have the same basic structure, with an elongated core that is seemingly put between armored bits.
The game’s soundtrack teaser was released, which includes a listen at the early levels and even some boss battle music. There’s also an introduction to the game’s story in the video.
Here’s the soundtrack teaser for Ubusuna:
Lastly, Iuchi shared a message on the game, and its progress:
This is Iuchi, director of Ubusuna.
This time, in conjunction with the distribution of the “Ubusuna Soundtrack -EP-” on YouTube, we asked 4Gamer to write an article about it.
What you see here is the Ubusuna player’s aircraft, the “Houha Yusou” (Houha Kessho). How do you like it?
Until the end of last year, I was having a hard time finding designers and modelers. So, I put a call for designers on my personal website, and for some reason, 4Gamer published an article about it. The person who saw the article and contacted me is Mr. Rinkusuga, who is in charge of art direction, mechanical design, and modeling for this project. Some of you may know him.
I used to work with him at the same company, but this is the first time I have worked with him on a project. I knew he was an excellent and hardworking person even back then, but about 20 years had passed by the time we worked together.
Through his introduction, a team of excellent designers was assembled to produce Ubusuna. The development process is a matter of “luck,” including time and place. So we are grateful to 4Gamer for helping us find our current team.
This Christmas, we hope that you will enjoy the rough drawings of the player’s aircraft, the images of the models, and the introduction to the story on 4Gamer’s website, and enjoy the soundtrack EP on the official YouTube channel of M2 Inc. Then you won’t be lonely even if Santa doesn’t come…
As for the game, we are sorry to say that it will take a while. We are working hard on the project, so please be patient until then.
Please continue to support Ubusuna in the future.
