Ubisoft has clarified how the recently announced Zombi will play on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC, considering the game was originally a Wii U exclusive that made ample use of the game’s GamePad tablet.
The game will have an increased field of vision to increase spacial awareness, while accessing your backpack still doesn’t pause the game. You’ll have to keep an eye out on your left and ride sides as the backpack interface appears in the middle of the screen.
“We knew from the beginning that maintaining the tension and feel of the original was one of the main challenges, as the way ZombiU was presented on Wii U cannot be reproduced,” says Hélène Henry, Zombi’s producer.
Coming from this, the multiplayer mode in the Wii U original has been removed, as it can’t be done without two screens. The minimap is going to appear in the corner of the screen, but only when you need it.
There are also some new changes coming with the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions, including two new melee weapons: the shovel, and a nail bat. The shovel has longer range and can hit multiple enemies in one swing, while the nail bat does more damage (but can also hit multiple enemies).
The flashlight has a new high setting for a wider, more encompassing beam of light – however it attracts more zombies if you use it this way. Finally, the game is reportedly going to “perform better on newer consoles,” with the controls being tweaked a bit to be more responsive.
Zombi is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in both North America and Europe on August 18th.
