U55 – End of the Line is a horror game set in the German subway, filled with tons of influences of H.P. Lovecraft’s mythology. In the game, you play as a poor American student living in Berlin. After witnessing a subway train crash, you have to find your way out of the subway with only your smart phone as a source of light.
U55 is inspired by the likes of Amnesia, Dead Space, Silent Hill and, of course, Call of Cthulhu – Dark Corners of the Earth. The game will always have you feeling very vulnerable, meaning you can’t run through areas all commando like – you’re an average, every day person.
Your smart phone is your main tool for survival, you’ll be able to upgrade it over time by downloading apps and collecting enhancements for it, like a bigger battery pack, a translation app, a flashlight app, a navigation app, an animal noise app, and so on.
One of the most horrifying things about U55 is that it will feature binaural beats, meaning the game will use alternating frequencies of sounds that will literally affect your mind and body. Of course, this will only work with a headset, and it will always be able to be turned off. Still, the implications of this in game sound very exciting.
