Ty the Tasmanian Tiger Remaster Now Available on Kickstarter

Krome Studios is turning to Kickstarter to remaster their 2002 platformer Ty the Tasmanian Tiger.

Seeking $50,000, the studio hopes to improve the game’s graphics and produce it digitally on the Nintendo Switch. The major improvements and initial goals include:


  • “Joycon 6-axis motion control for throwing the rangs, gliding and precision boomeranging!
  • Screen-space ambient occlusion
  • Fully dynamic shadows
  • Color correction and bloom
  • High definition (HD) art textures for the levels and characters
  • Improved particle effects
  • Improved camera
  • New Gamemode called “Hardcore Mode”
  • QA testing and problem fixing 
  • Nintendo Lot Check
  • New TY character skins (a stretch goal feature) 
  • Compatible with both the Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite*  (*requires extra controllers to be able to use the TY motion controls.  i.e. throwing and gliding.)”

Rewards include backer’s names on the credits and “at the Kromium UBERbacker level, we’ll create and include your game likeness as a TY universe animal of your choice in the credits.” Other backer rewards include, an art-book, soundtrack (with a limited run of vinyl), a shark-tooth necklace, cup, and Ty’s sun-patterned shorts. Rewards based on stretch goals include a PC key, digital wallpaper art, a Twitch livestream and hang-out, and skins for Ty.

While stretch goals up to $75,000 have been listed, three further tiers are listed but not detailed neither amount or what the reward is). At current the game has raised almost $40,000. You can find the Kickstarter here.
