Two-Option Conversations, New Trailer, More Revealed for Anthem

Electronic Arts and BioWare have announced some new details for Anthem.

The public pre-launch demo for the game will launch on February 1st of next year. If you pre-order the game or join Origin Access or EA Access, you’ll get access to the demo.

Featured above, a new “Our World, My Story” trailer was shown off for the game. EA also detailed both the Colossus and Interceptor exosuits.

The company revealed (via PCGamesN) details for the game’s story and dialogue options. While BioWare games have traditionally offered a multitude of dialogue choices when interacting with characters, Anthem will only have two dialogue options for every conversation.

BioWare noted this stemmed from trying to avoid players getting hung up on what dialogue choices to make, and to naturally make the game more accessible to a new audience that may not like thinking or making choices (the last bit is a joke, they didn’t actually say that).

As you go through various conversations, you’ll get “Cortex” entries popping into your screen. These are bits of information and lore that are now auto-generated instead of discovered through investigative conversation like you’d see before. Essentially, more streamlining.

Lastly, BioWare noted they’re attempting to make all conversations, including ones with meaningless NPCs, have the same impact and overall polish as the ones you have with very important people. This means they’ll have the same lighting, facial animation, and presentation as well.

Anthem is launching across Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on February 22nd, 2019.
