Publisher Clear River Games and developer Tatsujin shared new gameplay and info for Truxton Extreme, their brand new entry in the classic shmup franchise.
In case you missed it, we previously reported on Truxton Extreme getting a demo as part of Steam Next Fest in June.
Here’s a rundown on the new details, plus the new trailer:
Set to launch on PC and PlayStation 5 in 2025, Truxton Extreme is a brand new game in the iconic vertical shoot ‘em up franchise, with players tasked to shoot down hordes of alien invaders using multiple devastating weapons, across eight unique stages.
The Steam Next Fest demo is packed with a whole host of features to give players a real cosmic taste of what’s to come in the full game, including a tutorial to bring wannabe pilots up to speed, and heart starter mode – an easier and more accessible way to play where you respawn where (and when!) you die. Players will also get to meet Ash, one of the game’s main characters, as well as being introduced to some of the game’s manga.
Tatsujin CEO Masahiro Yuge developed the original Truxton, released in 1988, and Truxton Extreme honours that original vision, created with the same DNA which made Truxton one of gaming’s most memorable vertical shooters. Truxton Extreme brings a classic of the genre into the modern era with 3D visuals and non-stop shooting intensity, as well as an explosive new musical score from Masahiro Yuge himself, featuring both reimagined Truxton tracks and brand-new music for the best of both worlds.
Truxton Extreme features a new shoot ‘em campaign in Story Mode, with 18 chapters of arcade action and comic book storytelling from manga artist and character designer, Junya Inoue (Btooom!, Batsugun). Players must summon their might to defend Earth from the Geranium invaders, obliterating hordes of alien invaders with their Power Shot, Truxton Beam, Thunder Laser and Homing Shot, and that series favourite: the all powerful bomb! If you’re new to the genre, Heart Starter has you covered; all the destruction with more forgiving mechanics.
