It’s been awhile since we’ve heard something about Kalypso Media’s exciting new entry into the Tropico series, Tropico 5.

While the game was confirmed for Xbox 360, PC, Mac and Linux, Kalypso has just confirmed that the game is coming to the Playstation 4. This is the first time the series has come to a Playstation platform.

Kalypso Media UK managing director Andrew Johnson had this to say regarding the PS4 release:

“We are delighted to be able to work with Sony to bring Tropico 5 to PlayStation 4 and enter the next generation market. The PlayStation 4 version of Tropico 5 will expand the Tropico brand to the new generation hardware and to a new generation of gamers.”

Kalypso Media global managing director Stefan Marcinek also had a few words to say:

“We have been evaluating many new and exciting development opportunities for the Tropico brand and by bringing Tropico 5 to PlayStation 4 we open a new chapter in the history of the game. By taking full advantage of the PlayStation 4’s processing power the island of Tropico and El Presidente have never looked better.”

Tropico 5 is set for release sometime this year.
