tri-Ace is Working on Judas Code, a Free to Play, Apocalyptic Playstation Vita Shooter RPG

This week’s Famitsu magazine has revealed the next big project by tri-Ace, famed RPG developers known for games like Star Ocean, Resonance of Fate, and so on. Their new game is titled Judas Code, and it’s coming to Playstation Vita.

Judas Code is described as a free to play, “triple-A” gun action RPG, and it even has micro-transactions. That’s quite the mouthful, but it gets even better, as the setting is definitely interesting as well.

The story is set during World War III, where a mysterious pillar from space known only as “Longinus” has completely devastated the planet. This leads most of humanity to fight over what land or resources are left, and kicks off the final battle for humanity’s future.

Single player equates to the actual gun-RPG mechanics, although details are a bit scarce as the actual Famitsu scans are not out yet. Multiplayer, however, boils down to just a simple card game, sadly.

The story in Judas Code unfolds via obtaining missions from characters in town, and you’ll earn rewards that can be exchanged for cards in a gacha lottery. You can use these cards to build a better deck, which I’d assume can be used for the aforementioned multiplayer.

Development must be pretty advanced because Judas Code is set for a release sometime this summer in Japan.

We’ll keep you guys posted.
