Not much has been said lately about the status of the next chapter of Falcom’s Legend of Heroes series, which isn’t surprising considering it’s been around since the Turbo-grafx 16 CD days and still hasn’t earned much respect. Nonetheless, its presence on PSN has slowly converted a lot of JRPG hungry fans who were happy to hear the game’s sequel would be coming out…and not just on PSN but Steam as well.
In response to a Facebook follower, an XSEED employee stated that the original Trails in the Sky (FC-First Chapter) would come out sometime early 2014, while the sequel would be released during the middle of the same year. Both of these first two chapters will be released on Steam and PSN simultaneously, a sure sign that Falcom feels comfortable using the American digital download service to market their games. An impressive change of heart considering most Eastern developers distrust such avenues of distribution.
Details about the translation are scarce and it is not yet known if they have recorded voice overs for the second chapter. Carpe Fulgur, the team that localized Recettear, Chantelise and Fortune Summoners (All currently on Steam) are responsible for handling the translation duties on the “Trails” sequel.
Either way, be prepared for the rarity of having two top quality JRPGs on the PC next year.
