Total War: Warhammer III Global Gameplay Reveal Showcase

Total War: Warhammer III

Creative Assembly have released the first gameplay for their upcoming grand strategy game Total War: Warhammer III as a full blown showcase.

As previously reported, the game is third installment in the popular Warhammer-themed take on the Total War formula will explore some of the lesser represented regions of the Old World; most notably the Russian-inspired frozen north of Kislev, and Grand Cathay, the vast Chinese-like empire in the far east.

The game will also feature armies for the four great Chaos gods of Khorne, Nurgle, Slaanesh, and Tzeentch as they pour from the Realm of Chaos and attempt to invade the mortal world. Total War: Warhammer III is also acting as a bit of a sneak peek at The Old World, a full tabletop reboot of Warhammer Fantasy in development by Games Workshop after the setting was initially retired to create Age of Sigmar.

While the Trial By Fire cinematic trailer was released earlier today, Creative Assembly has revealed the first gameplay in a full showcase, complete with developer commentary. You can find the full showcase below; with the Khorne Vs Kislev Survival Battle Gameplay and Developer Vision segments as stand alone videos as well.

In addition, Creative Assembly detailed the game’s new modes and units. The Survival mode tasks players with fighting through enemy territory to capture vital areas, all while building their own defenses, reinforcements, and buffs so they are not overrun.

Creative Assembly also detailed the Little Grom, mortar cannons pulled by polar bears (and designed by the studio for use in Warhammer The Old World as well). It even uses a magic carpet of ice to take it across even brimstone and ash, and nearby Kislevites will fight harder when nearby.

Giant Elemental bears can also be summoned, a “colossal engine of destruction that embodies everything Kislev’s people hold dear about their homeland.” These titans of ice and stone even strike fear into the hearts of demons, using brute force and frost magic.

You can find the rundown (via Steam) below:

Far beyond the world and its petty wars there exists a dimension of pure, malevolent magic: The Realm of Chaos. It is a terrible place, incomprehensible to the mortal mind. It whispers promises of power, but to behold it is to be seduced by it. To relinquish your soul to it. To become it.

The four Ruinous Powers rule over this place, ever seeking to slip their bonds and engulf the world in a tide of daemonic corruption. Nurgle, the plague god; Slaanesh, the lord of excess; Tzeentch, the changer of ways; and Khorne, the god of blood and slaughter.

On the border between the worlds, two mighty kingdoms stand sentinel: the stern warriors of Kislev and the vast empire of Grand Cathay. But each is beset by its own trials, and now both have cause to cross the threshold and send their armies into the Realm of Chaos.

The world stands on a precipice. A single push will plunge it into cataclysm.

And there is one who schemes to achieve just that, an ancient figure who desires nothing less than to wield supreme power. But to succeed, he will need a champion…

The coming conflict will engulf all. Will you conquer your daemons? Or command them?

Total War: Warhammer III launches late 2021 for Windows PC, Linux, and Mac (all via Steam).
