Toshihiro Nagoshi’s face explodes in new video for Nagoshi Studio’s anniversary

Nagoshi Studio

Ex-Sega and Yakuza series boss Toshihiro Nagoshi was featured in a new brand video for Nagoshi Studio, his development studio founded under NetEase Games.

The new video, titled “MAKE/HUMAN” was released this Friday to celebrate the third anniversary since the developer’s founding back in 2021.

The new video is somewhat of a music video with lyrics written by Nagoshi himself, performed by bilingual rapper BBY NABE, and wild visuals that go from Nagoshi’s face exploding to a journey through the human body, and finally particles forming together to make a heart.

Here’s the new music video:

Nagoshi Studio is committed to “people creating, people portraying,” and they aim to realize bigger dreams than just mere protagonists of games, while achieving lofty goals. They want to foster craftsmanship that only their studio can produce, inspiring players around the world.

It still remains to be seen what kind of game will be the first release from Nagoshi Studio years after its founding under NetEase. The last time we heard about a new game was over two years ago and it was mostly teases of a game.

At that time, Nagoshi himself talked about his motivations on the new game and said he wanted to follow the formula that made his Yakuza (Like a Dragon) series so popular around the world: violence, drama, and of course – humor.

“Of course, I can’t reveal too much about our game yet, but I can give a rough idea: It will definitely contain violence as a game element, but I don’t want to go too much in the direction of thriller or even horror,” Nagoshi said at the time.

NetEase established Nagoshi Studio back in 2021 under Toshihiro Nagoshi himself, basing the new company in Shibuya, Tokyo. The hope was in bringing Nagoshi on as the CEO and president of the company, they’ll attract more Japanese talent.
