Yesterday’s stream of inXile’s Torment: Tides of Numenera has been posted on Youtube, allowing those who missed it Wednesday to see the CRPG in action. Narrated (and played) by IGN’s Tal Blevins and accompanied by inXile CEO Brian Fargo and lead area designer George Ziets, the first half of the stream deals with character creation.
Character creation, as some might know by now, isn’t done the standard way it is in most other CRPGs, but is actually done through dialog-based decisions at the start of the game. Choosing what to do and how to interact with the situations in the dream-like land of the game’s initial dungeon is what ultimately decides how your character is built.
Later, the video is less of a gameplay Stream and more of an interview as Blevins manages to get a lot of info out of Fargo when he asks him questions concerning the game’s development and the motivation behind the game which it is the spiritual successor to, the original Planescape: Torment.
There is still no concrete release date for Torment, but it is planned to launch some time this year.
